Publication Ethics

The statement of the scientific code of Ethics in Alif Lam: Journal of Islamic Studies and Humanities is a statement of the code of ethics for all parties involved in the scientific journal publication process, namely managers, editors, reviewers, and writers. The code of ethics statement is established to maintain the quality of manuscripts and avoid publishing violations and plagiarism in the process of publishing scientific publications referring to the provisions of scientific publication ethics by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics of Scientific Publications, which in The bottom line is that the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications essentially upholds three ethical values in publication, namely (i) Neutrality, namely being free from conflicts of interest in publication management; (ii) Justice, namely giving authorship rights to those entitled to be writers; and (iii) Honesty, namely free from duplication, fabrication, falsification and plagiarism in publications.

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers

1. Determine the name of the journal, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
2. Determine the membership of the editorial board.
3. Define the relationship between publishers, editors, reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
4. Respect confidential matters, both for contributing devotees, writers, editors, and reviewers.
5. Implement norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyrights.
6. Review journal policies and submit them to authors, editorial board, reviewers, and readers.
7. Create code of conduct guides for editors and reviewers.
8. Publish journals regularly.
9. Guarantee the availability of funding sources for the continuation of journal publication.
10. Build a network of cooperation and marketing.
11. Preparing permits and other legal aspects.

Editor Duties and Responsibilities

1. Meet the needs of readers and writers,
2. Endeavor to improve the quality of publications in a sustainable manner,
3. Implement a process to ensure the quality of published papers,
4. Prioritize freedom of expression objectively,
5. Maintain the integrity of the author's academic track record,
6. Delivering corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies when necessary,
7. Responsible for the style and format of the written work, while the contents and all statements in 
    the written work are the responsibility of the author,
8. Actively solicit the opinions of authors, readers, reviewers, and members of the editorial board to
    improve the quality of publications,
9. Encouraging an assessment of the journal if there are findings,
10 . Support initiatives to reduce community service and publication errors by asking authors to attach
       an Ethical Clearance form that has been approved by the Ethics Clearance Commission,
11. Support initiatives to educate devotees about publication ethics,
12. Assess the effect of publication policies on the attitudes of authors and reviewer partners and
      improve them to increase responsibility and reduce mistakes,
13. Have an open mind to new opinions or other people's views that may conflict with personal
14. Do not defend your own opinion, the author or a third party which may result in an objective
15. Encouraging writers, so they can make improvements to their written work so that it is worthy of

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

1. Receiving assignments from the editor to review written works and submit the results of the review
    to the editor, as material for determining the feasibility of a written work for publication.
2. Reviewers may not conduct a review of written works that involve themselves, either directly or
3. Maintain the author's privacy by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and
    recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations.
4. Encourage writers to make improvements to their writing.
5. Re-examine the written work that has been corrected according to predetermined standards.
6. Papers are reviewed in a timely manner according to the style of the publication environment based
    on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities of the Author

1. Ensuring that those included in the list of authors meet the criteria as writers.
2. Take collective responsibility for the work and the contents of the article including methods, analysis,
    calculations, and details.
3. State the origin of resources (including funding), either directly or indirectly.
4. Explain the limitations of community service.
5. Respond to comments made by Reviewer in a professional and timely manner.
6. Inform the editor if he will withdraw his written work.
7. Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has never been published
    anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.

Authors who publish their articles in the Alif Lam: Journal of Islamic Studies and Humanities agree to the following conditions:

a. The author retains copyright and grants the journal rights to the First publication with work
    simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share
    the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
b. Authors may make separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution
    of the journal's published version of the work (for example, posting it to an institutional repository or
    publishing it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.
c. Alif Lam: Journal of Islamic Studies and Humanities has a CC-BY-SA license or its equivalent as the
   optimal license for the publication, distribution, use, and reuse of scientific work.
d. In developing its strategy and setting priorities, Alif Lam: Journal of Islamic Studies and Humanities
    recognizes that free access is a better option than paid access under CC-BY-SA or its equivalent
    better than free under a different, more restrictive open license.
